What a Hindu marriage biodata usually contains
Most Hindu families read a biodata alongside the kundali, so the horoscope section matters as much as education and family. The Traditional design keeps these sections in the order families expect.
- Name, date of birth, height, caste or community and sub-caste, gotra and mother tongue.
- Time and place of birth — needed for kundali matching — with rashi, nakshatra and manglik status.
- Education, occupation and income (optional).
- Father’s and mother’s names and occupations, siblings, family type and native place.
- A short “about me”, a photo and the family’s contact number.
Getting the horoscope details right
Use the exact birth time in 24-hour format (for example 06:45) and the town of birth, as written in the janam kundali. If you are not sure whether you are manglik, leave it as “Don’t know” rather than guessing — families usually match the full kundali anyway.
If your family names a kuldevi or kuldevta, or a specific sub-community, add it under “Caste / community” or in “About the family”.
Frequently asked questions
Is gotra necessary in a Hindu biodata?
Many families check gotra to avoid marriage within the same gotra, so it is common to include it. It is optional in the maker — leave it blank if your family does not follow it.
Should I attach the kundali to the biodata?
The biodata carries the details needed to make or match a kundali — birth time, birth place, rashi, nakshatra and manglik status. Families who match horoscopes usually ask for the full kundali separately.
Is the biodata maker really free?
Yes. Making, previewing and downloading the biodata as PDF, Word or an image costs nothing. There is no watermark across the page — just a small footer line, which you can switch off.
Do I need to sign up?
No sign-up is needed to fill in the biodata and see the preview. When you download, we ask you to verify a mobile number or email with a one-time code and to agree to the terms. That also creates a VivahSangini profile for you, which stays hidden until you choose to complete it.
Which formats can I download?
A PDF for printing and email, a Word (.docx) file you can edit further, and a JPG image that is easy to share on WhatsApp. All three use the same details and design.
